Ingredients
- Butter to grease baking dish
- 1 Large Egg
- 1 Tbsp Brown Sugar
- 1 tsp Vanilla or other flavoring of choice
- Pinch Salt
- 1/4 cup Whole milk or Cream
- 1 generous cup 1/2-inch Bread Cubes
- Butter and sugar for topping if desired
Instructions
- Pre-heat toaster oven (or regular oven) to 350°F. Generously butter a ramekin, coffee mug, or heat-proof small bowl with a 2-cup capacity.
- Using a fork, beat the egg with the brown sugar, vanilla and salt until well combined. Whisk in the milk or cream. Fold in the bread cubes until all are wet.
- At this point you could add extra ingredients such as chocolate chips or diced apple. See the full blog posting for ideas.
- Turn the bread mixture into your greased baking vessel. The top may be dotted with butter and sprinkled with sugar if desired. Bake in the pre-heated oven for about 25 minutes, until puffed and golden, and a knife inserted in the centre comes out clean.
