Ingredients
- 4 - 5 ounces Dark chocolate (bittersweet preferred)
- 1/2 cup Salted Butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 Large Egg (size matters)
- 1/4 tsp Salt
- 1 Tbsp Vanilla
- 3/4 cup All Purpose Flour or gluten free flour + 1/2 tsp xanthan gum
Instructions
- Melt chocolate and butter together on 1/3 power in the microwave, or in a bowl over hot water. Stir to combine.
- Add sugar. Stir to combine, allowing the mixture to cool slightly.
- Add eggs, stirring to completely combine.
- Add salt and vanilla, stirring to combine.
- Add flour. Stir gently until all flour is thoroughly incorporated.
- Spread batter in a foil-lined 8 or 9 inch square pan.
- Bake in a preheated 350F oven for exactly 30 minutes. Do not overbake. If centre is still liquid at the 30 minute mark, keep checking until it is just set. Allow to cool completely before serving.
- Brownies may be topped with your choice of frosting. I use chocolate ganache: Melt 1 cup chocolate chips and 1/4 cup whipping cream together in the microwave until cream is just starting to bubble. Stir together until smooth and shiny, and chocolate is completely melted. Spread evenly on warm brownies. Allow to set at room temperature until firm.
