Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 cups Rolled Oats (Large flake preferred)
  • 1 cup Chopped Nuts, any kind
  • 1/2 cup Seeds, Ground Flax, Sesame, Millet, Sunflower, or a mixture
  • 1/4 cup Coconut, any kind
  • 1/2 cup Applesauce
  • 1/2 cup Packed Brown Sugar
  • 2 Tbsp Liquid Honey
  • 2 Tbsp Maple Syrup or Corn Syrup
  • 2 Tbsp Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
  • 1 Tbsp Neutral flavor Vegetable Oil
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 Tsp Cinnamon
  • 1/2 Tsp Ground Ginger
  • Optional Dried Fruit of choice
Instructions
  1. Combine oats, nuts, seeds and coconut in a large bowl.
  2. Combine all other ingredients except dried fruit. Stir to make a slurry.
  3. Add the cocoa slurry to the oat mixture, stirring to coat the dry ingredients well.
  4. Spread on a parchment-lined baking sheet in a uniform layer.
  5. Bake in a preheated 300 °F oven for 1 hour, rotating the pan half-way through the baking time.
  6. Allow to cool completely before breaking into nuggets of the desired size. Mix in dried fruit, if using.
  7. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks, or in the freezer for up to 6 months.
